Barca president Joan Laporta has been unsatisfied with the club's deal with Nike for some time, and has reportedly explored new merchandising partners for the Catalonian club. Laporta suggested earlier this month that Nike had broken their agreement with the Spanish giants: "We have some concerns and a situation that is not what we wanted. The operation has been deteriorating, we think they have breached the contract."
