Everton will will be bolstered for their clash with Blackpool on Saturday when midfielder Tim Cahill returns to the side.
David Moyes’ men have been without the goalscoring Australian since he departed for national squad duty in late December, helping his side to the Asian Cup final.
But Cahill is back and will aim to do what he does best – score at vital times – to help Everton avoid a fourth consecutive league game without a win.
Blackpool have retained midfielder Charlie Adam for the remainder of the season after potential transfer moves were blocked on the final day of the transfer window.
The 25-year-old’s manager Kenny Moyes – brother of Everton boss David – said his star player will not be distracted by the failed move away from Blackpool.
“It has been a major stress for Charlie, a real emotional rollercoaster,” Moyes told the Liverpool Echo.
“As well as being angry he feels gutted and badly let down as the only player to put in a transfer request and have it ignored.”
“Luckily, coming from Rangers, he is bullet-proof, and I can promise you that you won’t see any difference in his level of performance.”
“He will be as committed and passionate as ever.”
“That’s just the way Charlie is – he’s the sort of guy you would always want in the trenches alongside you.”
Everton fought back twice to secure a 2-2 draw at Bloomfield Road in November, with Cahill scoring one of his nine goals this season in the game.
Blackpool will be missing left-back Steve Crainey through an ankle injury but could bring David Carney – another Australia Asian Cup returnee – straight into his place.
Richard Kingson will continue to deputise in the Blackpool goal with Matt Gilks still missing, while Everton’s only real absence is an ill Tony Hibbert.
