Liverpool comprehensively beat Manchester United by a 3-1 scoreline at Anfield on Sunday night to return to the top of the Premier League table.
The Reds were the better team from practically the first whistle until the last, as their aggressive, confident display highlighted the many flaws in this crippled United side, that now sit a whopping 19 points off the pace being set by the Merseyside outfit.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho made some big selection decisions ahead of this match, not least in leaving Paul Pogba on the bench once again. The Portuguese also opted to include Diogo Dalot in his starting line up, though the 19-year-old was substituted at half-time in favour of Marouane Fellaini.
In his 45 minutes on the pitch, summer signing Dalot looked overawed by the occasion, as his nervy performance typified United’s influence on the match.
Playing as a right wing-back, the teenager failed to greatly aid his team’s defensive cause. As the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah marauded forward, Dalot could make no tackles and no interceptions to stop them.
What’s more, the youngster was equally ineffective going forwards. He managed just one key pass and could muster only one successful dribble. His pass accuracy rating of 59% was amongst the worst recorded on the pitch.
It is far too harsh to blame such an inexperienced figure for United’s poor result. There is far too much wrong with Mourinho’s current side for Dalot to be expected to salvage, and the Portugal under-21 international is certainly a huge talent. However, he is not yet the finished article, and Mourinho must recognise that.
