The Red Devils' decision to retain the Sweden international's services for one more year has failed to impress former Man United star Gary Neville who believes that the club must start afresh, especially after the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The former England international also demanded that a message must be sent to the existing lot of players that the level of performance needs to go up if they want to continue at the club.
WHAT GARY NEVILLE SAID
On X, Neville wrote, "If United are looking to renew Lindelof and Varane (on reduced terms) I’m worried. We have to start afresh as much as possible. Whilst these two aren’t bad players by any stretch, a message must be sent to everyone inside and outside of the club that it’s not going to tolerate the levels over the last few years."
