Luke Shaw is ready to quit Manchester United at the end of the season, according to Squawka.
What’s the word?
The England international is not having the season he would have hoped for after recovering from a double leg fracture at the start of the campaign.
The left-back has made just 13 appearances in all competitions so far under manager Jose Mourinho.
He was left out of the squad for Sunday’s EFL Cup final win over his former club Southampton and was also nowhere to be seen for both Europa League last-32 ties against St Etienne.
Squawka reports that Shaw is frustrated by his lack of game time and believes that Mourinho does not want him given that Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian are above him in the pecking order.
The website claims that Shaw, who joined United from Southampton for a reported £30m figure in 2014, will consider his future when the transfer window reopens this summer.
Should Shaw stick it out at United?
Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial have proven that it is possible to get back into Mourinho’s good graces by working hard behind the scenes.
Both of those players have been left out in the cold at times this season, but after being publicly challenged by the manager, they have become competitors for first-team places again.
It appears that Shaw is required to do the same, but he has three, perhaps even four if Ashley Young is included, to push out of the way.
At the age of 21, the left-back has plenty of years ahead of them in the game, but he does not want to risk being forgotten if he fails to get regular minutes on the pitch.
It would make sense for Shaw to consider his future depending on where he stands at the end of the season, but keeping in mind that he is only young, he does not need to make a hasty decision.
