Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after seeing Jose Mourinho’s desperate – but hilarious – attempt to get Raheem Sterling sent off on Sunday when his Spurs side faced Manchester City.
The former Chelsea and Manchester City boss was seemingly in joyous, and relieved, spirits after watching Hugo Lloris save Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty, and also finding out that the France international hadn’t immediately given another spot-kick away when he appeared to foul Raheem Sterling.
With the England international already on a yellow card after a poor challenge on Dele Alli, Mourinho’s assistant – Joao Sacramento – appeared to inform the Tottenham boss that, if Sterling has dived, he should be sent off with two yellow cards to his name.
Humorously, in classic Mourinho fashion, the Portuguese coach literally raced out of his seat towards the fourth official to echo his assistant’s point, hoping to see the former Liverpool man booked once again – it truly was vintage stuff from the 57-year-old.
Let’s see what the Tottenham fans on Twitter thought of Mourinho’s antics…
To kick off the reaction, @RMillross didn’t sound too impressed by the former Real Madrid boss’ desperate cries for Sterling to be sent off.
This fan called Mourinho “pathetic” and added that “the guy is classless”, while also stating that this sort of behaviour is what the Spurs fanbase “used to criticise” when he was in charge of Chelsea.
Elsewhere, these two fans were singing a slightly different tune to the first supporter.
@JDTHFC said that they “love this” before adding that it’s “exactly what we needed as a club” – Shane echoed those thoughts by saying “what was needed”.
Lastly, these three fans also had something to say about Mourinho’s behaviour.
@FtLSpurs tweeted a laughing emoji while also saying “never change Jose” – another fan with the username @TrickyToomey said that the “hilarious” moment had them in tears.
Someone’s got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?
To round off the reaction, @brainspurs2019 simply said that it was “brilliant” – it was quite funny, to be fair.
In other news, these Tottenham fans were left fuming with an “utterly pathetic” moment…
