According to Sky Sports, West Ham United are in talks to sign Cologne striker Anthony Modeste, but they have already had a £22m bid for him rejected with his club valuing him at more than £35m, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 29-year-old had looked to be on the verge of a move to Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian, but the deal collapsed on Wednesday, according to Sky Sports.
Now the Irons are ready to try and bring the prolific striker – who scored 27 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit last term – to the Premier League for a second time following a brief and unsuccessful loan spell with Blackburn Rovers more than five years ago.
West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and it was clear to see that the majority of the fans aren’t keen on a big-money move for the 29-year-old, although some others believe it could be a good deal for the prolific marksman.
